The Serial No. FR 421845 on this sewing machine indicates that it was made between 1884-1893 by the White Sewing Machine Company of Massachusetts. The sewing plate has a patent date of 1905, so it may have been altered or added later. This antique black machine is decorated with gold and silver filigree. It originally mounted to a table and was operated using a foot pedal linked by a belt to the wheel. This model comes with a black tin box marked "White" that is full of attachments (see photos for details.) There are rust spots and signs of age and use, but machine functions properly.
