This striking sculpture is carved from a single piece of ebony-stained wood. It is intricately carved with figures representing young and old, warriors and farmers, women and children, all expressively detailed. There are a few missing or broken pieces and some chips here and there, but they don't detract from the impressiveness of this piece. Probably made by the Makonde people of Tanzania and Mozambique.
