This antique wood and iron hand plane comes has a 22" body, a 2-piece iron and a wood wedge. Inscribed on the iron "Alexander Mathieson & Son Steel Warranted, Glasgow". According to Wikipedia, Alexander Mathieson (1797–1851) is recorded in 1822 as a plane-maker at 25 Gallowgate, Glasgow. In 1849, the company name changed to Thomas A. Mathieson & Co., so this iron dates to between 1822 and 1849, and the body is consistent with the iron and wedge. In good, used condition with wear from much use.
