This slightly curved wood panel with relief images of elephant and a hoofed animal is the back of a African birthing chair. Often referred to as "palaver" chairs (for long discussions), "birthing" chairs, or "fertility" chairs, they are common across several African cultures. The seat slides into the rectangular slot near the bottom of the panel. These chairs are designed to be portable and easily disassembled for transport. It's signed "CM". It's best to hang on a wall, as It won't stand up by itself. Very Good Condition with just a little bit of wear.
