Made from a brass shell casing for a 75mm French field gun (French 75), this trench art tankard is stamped  "18" on base for 1918. So a WWI soldier made this vessel out of a discarded shell casing. The battlefield artist has finished this cup with a ruffled rim and a handle. Stamped on base "75 DE C PDPs 1390L 18 SD" on base: 75 DE C = 75mm de Campagne (75mm Field Gun), PDPs = Pinchard et Denys, Paris. (Case maker), 1390 L = Lot 1390, 18 = 1918, SD = the metal supplier. Condition can be seen in photos.
